Sean spent much of his young adulthood working in the music business, and has been studying and working in theatrical sound design for fifteen years. He has performed all over the country in theaters, bars, fairs, and festivals, most notably SXSW in Austin, Texas, the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, and Fry Street Fair. Sean has worked (and lived!) in recording studios, designed sound for numerous plays and theatre events, and is comfortable working with a wide array of software, including Q-Lab, Pro Tools, Reason, Ableton Live, Isadora, Garage Band, and Cakewalk. Sean is also qualified to work with a variety of mixing, amplification, and effects hardware, including live wireless (lav) microphone mixing.

ANNOUNCEMENT – Original composition using piano, guitar, digital instruments (Reason), manipulated sounds recorded at rehearsal, at various locations (parking garage, cafe, etc.), and from freesound.org; mixed with Pro Tools. Sound design for The Bear Loves Honey. White Flag Performance Group, 2013: dir. Sean Mahoney & Rowen Haigh.

SOMEBODY ELSE’S ANGEL – Original composition using two guitars, recorded with Cakewalk. Sound design for The Comedy of Errors. Virginia Governor’s School, 2000: dir. Jim Elliott.

MORSE – Sound design element using recordings of hoof-beats and telegraph machine; mixed with Pro Tools.  Director Shannon McPhee asked for ‘the sound of horses turning into Morse Code.’  Sound design for Disremember.  Towson University MFA Thesis Production, 2012: dir. Shannon McPhee.

SPELL OF THE 12 CAVES – Original composition using digital instruments, mixed with Pro Tools.  Sound design for Really You Should Use Bullets.  White Flag Performance Group, 2012: dir. Sean Mahoney & Rowen Haigh.

WHAT IS – Fragment of a solo sound performance/collage piece utilizing sounds from Cuong Vu, George Carlin, Skrew, and Google Translate; mixed with Pro Tools. Towson University Laboratory Performance, 2011: dir. Sean Mahoney.

DANCE – Original composition using guitar, piano, bass, and digital instruments, recorded with Pro Tools.  Commissioned for postmodern dance performance, 2011: dir. Eric F. Avery.

BANJO – Original composition using two banjos and a guitar, recorded with Cakewalk. Director asked for ‘humorous music for fight scenes, to be choreographed so that they happen identically every time.’ Sound design for The Comedy of Errors. Virginia Governor’s School, 2000: dir. Jim Elliott.

THE DRIPS – Original composition for solo sound performance piece, using bass, guitar, and digital instruments, recorded with Pro Tools.  Solo performance, 2011: dir. Sean Mahoney.

HOMEWRECKER – Experimental electronic piece; I just wanted to see if I could write a whole song using nothing but ‘Fruity Loops’ (beat-making) software.  Sequenced and mixed with Fruity Loops (free version).  2004.

WEIGHING OF THE HEART – Original composition using piano, guitar, and digital instruments, recorded with Pro Tools.  Sound design for The Bear Loves Honey.  White Flag Performance Group, 2013.
